East Harlem Senior Pool Party Kick-Off

NYC Department of Parks & Recreation is pleased to announce the launch of special senior hours at the Thomas Jefferson Park Pool (112th St. and 1st Ave.) for the summer 2011 season. As a result of requests from older adults in the East Harlem Community, the Thomas Jefferson Park Pool will hold a senior swim session every Tuesday and Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m.

Sponsored by Age-Friendly New York City, Councilwoman Melissa Mark-Viverito, and NYC Department of Parks and Recreation, the “East Harlem Senior Pool Party” on Thursday July 7 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. will serve as the kick off to these new senior hours. With music provided by El Museo del Barrio, water safety and exercise classes, and many giveaways, this seniors-only pool party is sure to be a great way for the older adults of the East Harlem Community to get out in their neighborhood, go for a swim, and take advantage of their local park and pool.
